Rita Cannan School Counseling Mission Statement

Rita Cannan Elementary School is committed to providing a comprehensive counseling program that supports all students in becoming resilient lifelong learners. Social-emotional and academic success will be supported by providing strategies to support all students in their learning, management of emotions, and problem solving all while demonstrating empathy.

The school counseling program consists of grade-level specific guidance lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling services that provide students with skills to become independent, caring, and responsible members of society and successful lifelong learners.

Family Resource Center located at Hug High School:

  • Assists families with basic needs, SNAP, Medicaid, utility assistance programs, and community referrals

  • Our school pantry will reopen 2/6/25 Thursdays 9:15-9:45AM and 3:15-3:45 PM
  • Mobile Harvest pantry is at Crosswinds Church the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month from 9 AM-12PM
